BS El Ideólogo — Josué Abel Guzmán Cruz, born in Santo Domingo on 16 June 1991 — is a Dominican music producer and mixing and mastering engineer. He works in stereo and in Dolby Atmos, and he is a Latin Grammy voting member.

The desk, not the stage

Mixing and mastering is the least visible job in a record and one of the few that cannot be faked. Dolby Atmos is newer still: mixing for it means placing sound in three dimensions rather than across two speakers, and very few engineers anywhere in the Caribbean are set up to do it.

A Dominican engineer working at that specification is a small piece of infrastructure. It means a Dominican record can be finished to an international specification without leaving the country.

The credits

The work traced to him is largely in Christian music. He arranged Tú Amor Es Diferente for Luigui López, a song written by Frankely Bello and Pacto Sagrado, and he produced Eterno Amor with Ismael Moronta for the group Aires de Unción.

He also makes his own material and works as a content creator, explaining the technical side of the job to an audience that would otherwise never see it.
