Daniel Segura is a Dominican bachata singer and songwriter who works under the billing El Dueño del Sur. The Dominican press has called him one of the genre’s most convincing performers and writers, and one who deserves more than he has had.

The south-west is its own bachata country. It has its own singers, its own circuit and an audience that keeps the guitar-led, unvarnished version of the music alive while the industry in the capital chases the export version.

He works that territory alongside Luis Miguel del Amargue, and the two cut Hoy together in February 2025. Billing yourself the owner of the south is a claim about where you belong as much as about standing.
