Rhaydiris Mariel José Ramírez, known professionally as La Princesa del Acordeón, is a Dominican accordionist, singer, and songwriter of merengue típico (perico ripiao), born in Nagua, María Trinidad Sánchez province, on 15 October 2001. She leads her own group and is one of the young women who have taken up the accordion in a genre historically led by men.

Training

She discovered típico music and the accordion at thirteen and studied at a típico music school in Nagua named for Tatico Henríquez, run by Negro Frías and Julián Guzmán, where her first teacher was Adolfo Díaz. Press accounts also name Lupe Valerio and Ovidio de la Cruz among her teachers. She has been mentored by Krency García, known as El Prodigio, and has received support from La Doncella del Acordeón. By 2022 she was also studying piano at the Instituto de Cultura y Arte in Santiago and taking singing lessons.

Career

Her group toured the country and appeared on regional and national television, among them a broadcast from the Hermanas Mirabal province in 2018 when she was a teenager and «El Show del Mediodía» in 2022. She was recognized by her home province for her work in promoting típico music, and she has performed in Nagua's patron-saint festivities and on a bill with Sergio Vargas. Press listings of the genre's newer exponents name her alongside El Blachy and others.

She writes part of her repertoire. Her recordings include «El Morenito» and «Amor Bonito», the latter written by Víctor Paredes and produced with Ana Production, and her own «Tu Partida». In September 2025 she released «El Hoyito», written by Raúl Román, with a video filmed in Nagua by Cibao Media Group featuring the content creator La Real Pomposa, distributed by «La Oreja Media Group».

Legacy

La Princesa del Acordeón began as a teenage student at Nagua's típico music school and now leads her own group, combining live performance with self-written songs and digitally distributed singles, among a younger generation of típico performers.
