Manuel Miller —born Manuel de Jesús Díaz Miller in Santo Domingo in January 1983— is a Dominican DJ, producer and music educator who has worked in the country’s electronic music scene since 1996.

The school

In July 2004 he opened the Manuel Miller DJ School, presented by him, and in a 2013 interview in the business press, as the first school of its kind in the Dominican Republic. In that interview he said a course lasts sixty-four hours and named Ricardo Chifino, Okensy Núñez and Sofía Menicucci among his graduates; he has also cited Bayoan Soto, DJ Gem and Gaspary, of the duo «Technopolis». The school was still active in Santo Domingo two decades later.

In the booth

He has said that electronic music reached him as a child through Pink Floyd, Herbie Hancock, Giorgio Moroder and Michel Camilo, and later through the overnight electronic programming of the station «X 102». In September 1996 he started DJing as «DJ Mastermix», a name he soon dropped for his own; a year later he held a residency at the teen disco of Club Naco and went on to play clubs across Santo Domingo, including «Schizo» and «Bambú». On the radio he hosted «Santo Domingo Electrónico» from 2001 to 2003 and later took part in «Feel Electro On Live Radio».

In the studio

He turned to production in 1999, and by 2002 he was releasing his own tracks, among them «Dominican Groove» and «Hearing My Roots», which were played on Dominican stations such as «La X 102» and «Radio Listín». Later came «Salsation» (2009), «Mi Mesa E.P.» (2010) and «Mi Mesa Special Edition» (2011), all through the label «Latitud Records».

Legacy

Manuel Miller has kept releasing music and performing into the mid-2020s, including a 2024 remix of his own «Dominican Groove» and a 2026 radio mix for Dominican Independence Day, and Dominican outlets have called him a key figure in training much of the current generation of the electronic scene.
