Cristino Alberto Gómez is a Dominican poet from Loma de Cabrera, in Dajabón. He is also an agronomist and a teacher, and he is credited as a composer and lyricist in Dominican music.

The books

«Yo Dije el Amor» came out from «Editora Búho» in 2014. «Dijiste Que Volvías» followed ten years later, launched at the third «Feria del Libro» in Dajabón in November 2024 and described as a selection drawn from twenty years of writing. «El Caribe», «Diario Libre» and «El Nuevo Diario» all covered it.

Loma de Cabrera is a small town on the Haitian border, better known in Dominican music as where the Villalonas come from. That a working poet comes out of it, with a launch the national press covers, is a fact about the town as much as about him.

The songwriting partnership with Luys Bien

His musical presence in Dominican music stems from his creative partnership with fellow Loma de Cabrera singer-songwriter Luys Bien. Gómez’s poetry provided the complete lyrical foundation for Bien’s 2020 debut EP «Firme Albor», spanning tracks such as «¿Dónde Está?», «Tu Castigo», «Lucero», «El Siembra-Yuca» and «Porque Me Amas». Their collaboration continued across subsequent singles including «Mujer Amiga», «Déjame Nacer», «Nos Queremos Tanto», «Latidos de Tambor», «Regresar Para Qué», «Cuando Ya Dolía» and «Motivo De Tu Fe».

Legacy

Through his work as a poet and lyricist, Cristino Gómez bridges contemporary Dominican literature and popular music, transforming northern border verse into recorded bachata, merengue, and bolero.
